Requirements for transferring Wii U data

You will need the following to perform a system transfer:

    • A source Wii U console, with at least one user account linked to a Nintendo Network ID
    • A target Wii U console
    • An SD or SDHC Memory Card
    • A broadband internet connection
    • A Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus is required if you have Wii software-related data.

The capacity of SD Card you require depends on the amount of data you wish to transfer. The total amount to be transferred (up to 32 GB) will display on the Wii U GamePad screen before you insert the SD Card.

Transferring from a Premium Pack console to a Basic Pack console

The amount of data you can save to a console differs between the Wii U Premium Pack and the Wii U Basic Pack. If the amount of data on the source console is greater than what the target console can store, you will need a separate USB storage device.
