    What are Nintendo 3DS family systems?


    Nintendo 3DS family systems are Nintendo's latest handheld systems, offering a range of software and unique features in a compact package. Various models of Nintendo 3DS are available in a selection of colours to suit everybody.

    New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL are enhanced members of the Nintendo 3DS family. They offer additional control options and built-in support for amiibo: a range of special Nintendo character figures. New Nintendo 3DS can also be customised with a range of changeable cover plates.

    Nintendo 3DS family systems feature two screens, including a Touch Screen, and can wirelessly communicate in several ways. With Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL, it's possible to view 3D images without the need for special glasses. The level of 3D can be increased or decreased to suit using the 3D depth slider.


    However, as a child's vision is still developing until a certain age, it is recommended that only children over six years old should use the system in 3D mode. 3D visuals can be restricted using Parental Controls.

    If you're concerned about 3D visuals or have a younger child, Nintendo 2DS is also available as a family-friendly value model. Nintendo 2DS can play all Nintendo 3DS games in 2D mode, and with fewer moveable parts it's ideal for younger children.
