Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass DLC Is Not Appearing

The information in this article can help when you have purchased DLC for Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield and it is not appearing in the game.

    What to do

    1. Ensure the console has been updated to the latest system version.
    2. Make sure you have progressed far enough in the game to access the DLC.
      • You will need to be able to reach Wedgehurst Station and have access to the Wild Area.
      • You'll be able to travel to the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra areas after battling the Galarian Slowpoke at Wedgehurst Station.
    3. Make sure that you have purchased the corresponding DLC for the game you own. The Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass is only compatible with Pokémon Sword and the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass is only compatible with Pokémon Shield.

Do you own the compatible DLC for your game?

Are you using the physical or digital version of Pokémon Sword/Pokémon Shield?

    1. Restart the Nintendo Switch console.

To restart the console, press the POWER Button for three seconds, and then select Power Options, followed by Restart.

    2. Remove the game card, then delete the software data (this will not delete any save data).

From the software's options menu, select Data Management and then Delete Software.

    3. Reinsert the game card and download any available software updates for the game.
    4. If you purchased the DLC through the Nintendo eShop, open Nintendo eShop with the Nintendo Account that was originally used to purchase the DLC. Redownload the DLC that is missing from the game.

Select your user icon in the upper-right corner to access your Account Information, then select Redownload. Select the content in the list of previously purchased titles and tap the orange icon to redownload.

      • If you are playing with a different User Account than the one that purchased the DLC, review our information on primary and non-primary Nintendo Switch consoles.
      • You do not need to redownload the DLC if you own the physical Pokémon Sword + Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass or Pokémon Shield + Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass software.
    5. Launch the game and go to Wedgehurst Station.

The content should now be available to play once you've progressed far enough in the game:

      • You will need to be able to reach Wedgehurst Station and have access to the Wild Area.
      • You'll be able to travel to the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra areas after battling the Galarian Slowpoke at Wedgehurst Station.
