NES Controller Overview & FAQ
The NES controller is for use with the Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo Switch Online classic games on Nintendo Switch. The NES controller is designed to look and operate like the original controller for the Nintendo Entertainment System, which adds an authentic feel to playing classic NES games.
The NES controller comes in a 2-pack that includes 2 controllers. It is available exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online members (one set per Nintendo Account).
Nintendo Switch Online members can pre-purchase their NES controller beginning September 19, 2018. They will begin shipping around the end of 2018.
The NES controller is sold exclusively through the My Nintendo Store. It is not distributed via retail.

Has the NES controller changed at all from its original design?
While keeping the design of the original NES controller, the new controller is wireless with a rail along the top, so it can connect to a Nintendo Switch system for charging.
Is the new NES controller the same one that was released for the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES?
No, the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES controller is different from the NES controller designed for use with Nintendo Switch; the two are not interchangeable.
Can the NES controller be used with other Nintendo Switch software besides NES games?
The NES controller is designed for use with NES - Nintendo Switch Online games and is not guaranteed to work with other software.
Is this a limited time offer?
No, the NES controller is not a limited-time offer. However, it is only available once per Nintendo Account.
Can additional people in my family membership order their own NES controller?
Yes. Each Nintendo Account in a Family Group that has access to the family membership can order an NES controller.
However, it is not possible to order the NES controller using a Child Account.
Furthermore, it is only available once per Nintendo Account. For example, if someone with an individual membership orders the controller and then joins a family membership, they will not be able to order an additional controller.
