    A Nintendo Account is not required to connect a Nintendo Switch console to the internet; however, a Nintendo Account is required to play games online or use other network features, such as Nintendo eShop.

    What wireless routers are compatible?

    Nintendo Switch is compatible with most wireless routers. It supports the 802.11ac, 802.11n, 802.11g, and 802.11b wireless standards.

    What wireless security types are supported?

    Nintendo Switch consoles support WEP, WPA-PSK (AES), and WPA2-PSK (AES).

    Is 5GHz Wi-Fi supported?

    Yes, Nintendo Switch consoles support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi.

    Can I use my Wii LAN adapter?

    • If you have a LAN adapter for the Wii console, you can use it with Nintendo Switch. If you don't already have one, we recommend purchasing a licensed LAN adapter for Nintendo Switch.
    • If using a Nintendo Switch dock with a built-in LAN port, a USB LAN adapter is not needed.
    • A USB LAN adapter can be connected to a Nintendo Switch Lite system using a licensed accessory.
