    How to Start a Local or Online Multiplayer Game (51 Worldwide Games)

    In this article, you'll learn how to play with others in 51 Worldwide Games.

    Important

    • When playing multiplayer, please be mindful of Nintendo’s Code of Conduct, and be considerate of other players.
    • A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for each player to use online multiplayer features.

    Note

    • The number of players supported will vary for each game in the collection.
      • 44 games support two players via Local Play or Online Play.
      • Nine games support three players via Local Play or Online Play.
      • Eight games support up four players via Local Play or Online Play.
      • Three games and Piano support Mosaic Mode, where you can use up to four Nintendo Switch consoles in Local Play to extend the play area in a variety of ways.
        • Due to differing screen sizes, the play experience of Mosaic Mode may change when playing with a combination of Nintendo Switch – OLED Model consoles and Nintendo Switch consoles or Nintendo Switch Lite systems.
    • You can play Local Play with up to three other players who have a Nintendo Switch console and either the 51 Worldwide Games game or the 51 Worldwide Games: Local Multiplayer Guest Edition demo software.
    • Online Play can be played with friends you have registered from your Nintendo Account or with anyone in the world.

    Complete these steps

    1. Launch 51 Worldwide Games from the HOME Menu.
      • If this is your first time playing the game, you will need to follow the prompts to create a figurine before you can select Local Play or Online Play.

    What do you want to do?

    1. Make sure that flight mode is turned off on all players' consoles.
    2. One player will be the host. The host can start a Local Play Lobby.

      Important: When playing with users who own 51 Worldwide Games: Local Multiplayer Guest Edition, the host must be a player that owns a full copy of 51 Worldwide Games.

      1. From the game menu, select Local Play.
      2. Select Local Communication to play a multiplayer game wirelessly or select Mosaic Mode to play a game across multiple Nintendo Switch screens.
      3. Select Create a Lobby.
    3. Up to three players with 51 Worldwide Games: Local Multiplayer Guest Edition or another copy of 51 Worldwide Games can join the lobby.
      1. From the game menu, select Local Play.
      2. Select Local Communication to play a multiplayer game wirelessly or select Mosaic Mode to play a game across multiple Nintendo Switch screens.
      3. Select Choose a Lobby.
      4. Select the lobby opened by the nearby player.
    4. Once all players have joined the lobby, have the hosting player select Confirm. All players will participate in any game the host selects.
    1. Make sure that flight mode is turned off.
    2. One player will be the host. The host can start an Online Play Lobby.
      1. From the game menu, select Online.
      2. Select Play with Friends.
      3. Select Create a Lobby.
    3. Up to three players with their own copy of 51 Worldwide Games can join the lobby.
      1. From the game menu, select Online.
      2. Select Play with Friends.
      3. Select Choose a Lobby.
      4. Select the lobby opened by the nearby player. You may need to select Search Again if the lobby was not yet started by the hosting player.
    4. Once all players have joined the lobby, have the hosting player select Confirm. All players will participate in any game the host selects.
    1. Make sure that flight mode is turned off.
    2. From the game menu, select Online.
    3. Select Play with Anyone.
    4. Select three games you would like to play. You will be matched with another player who wants to play one of the games.
