How to Merge Nintendo Account and Nintendo Network ID Funds
In this article, you'll learn how to merge Nintendo eShop funds between a Nintendo Account and a Nintendo Network ID (NNID).
Important:
- The ability to merge funds will be available until 12 March 2024. Make sure you complete the steps described below by 12 March 2024.
- Once the balances are merged, they can’t be separated.
- If you unlink a Nintendo Network ID after merging funds, the funds will remain tied to the Nintendo Account. The money will not be accessible through the Nintendo Network ID if it is unlinked from the Nintendo Account.
Additional Information:
- Merging funds between a Nintendo Account and a Nintendo Network ID will allow you to share your Nintendo eShop balance between Nintendo Switch, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo website.
- Once the funds are merged, the balance will be shared for as long as the Nintendo Network ID and Nintendo Account are linked.
- This is optional for on-device purchases. You can also keep your Nintendo Account and Nintendo Network ID balances separate if you’d prefer.

On a Nintendo Switch console On a smart device, tablet or computer
On a Nintendo Switch console:
- Link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account using a PC or smart device.
- Select the Nintendo eShop icon on the HOME Menu of your Nintendo Switch console to launch Nintendo eShop.
- Select the account you want to use.
- Select your icon in the upper-right corner to access your Account Information.
- Select Merge with Funds from Nintendo 3DS/Wii U.
- This option is listed directly beneath the Add Funds button.
- If this option doesn’t appear, it means that the Nintendo Network ID currently linked to your Nintendo Account has already been merged to your account.
- This option is listed directly beneath the Add Funds button.
- Read through the information, then select Merge Funds.
- If you see Next instead of Merge Funds, you don’t currently have a Nintendo Network ID linked to your Nintendo Account. You will need to link a Nintendo Network ID, then try again.
- Enter your Nintendo Account password, then select OK.
- The current balances from your Nintendo Account and Nintendo Network ID will appear. Select Merge Funds to combine them.
- Your balances will be merged. Select OK to return to the Add Funds menu.
- Visit the Shop Menu page and sign in to your Nintendo Account.
- Your Nintendo Account balance and Nintendo Network ID balance will display.
- Select Merge Funds on the right underneath your Nintendo Network ID balance.
- If you do not see the Merge Funds option, you don’t currently have an NNID linked to your Nintendo Account. You will need to link an NNID, then try again.
- Read the information about merging funds that appears, then select Merge Funds.
- Your balances will be merged. Select OK to return to the Shop Menu.
