    How to Update Mario Strikers: Battle League Football

    In this article, you'll learn how to update Mario Strikers: Battle League Football.

    Note

    • This update must be applied in order to use the game’s online features.
    • A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the game's online features.
    • Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
    • The update will download and install automatically if the console is connected to the internet and the Automatic Software Updates setting is enabled. If there is not enough system memory or microSD card storage to download the update, you will first need to expand or free up memory space and then follow the steps below.
    • All players must be using the same version of the software to play together. Please make sure you have the same update version as the person you are playing with.

    On 9 March 2023, a new software update for Mario Strikers: Battle League Football became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch console is connected to the internet.

    Complete these steps

    1. Connect the Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
    2. From the HOME Menu, highlight the icon for the software you wish to update without actually starting the software.
    3. Press the + or - Button on your controller, then select Software Update followed by Via the Internet.
    4. Once the update is installed, the newest version number will be displayed on the title screen.

    • Fixed an issue in which certain combinations of Stadium Themes and characters could cause the game to crash.
    • Fixed several other issues to improve the gameplay experience.

    Added Features

    • Added “Striker Rankings” to the main menu. Compete by comparing your individual ability over a fixed period of time with “Skill Score”, which varies with your performance in online matches (excluding Battle Friends).
    • Added the following content to “Strikers Club”.
      • You can now customise supporters in the stadium. Access this by going to “Club Management” → “Stadium” → “Supporters”.
      • You can now use coins to view fireworks and confetti when you score a goal or when you win a match. Access this by going to “Club Management” → “Match Celebration”.

    General

    • Adjusted the behaviour so that CPU teammates mark opponents more quickly.
    • Adjusted the order of characters when you switch characters.
    • Adjusted the charge time of perfect through passes and perfect through lob passes.
    • Increased the amount of coins and tokens you earn depending on the results of a match.
    • Changed the period of time for a rule in Strikers Club, which states that a club will not be allowed to join a season if no member of that club has been online within a certain amount of time, from 90 days to 30 days.
    • Changed the number of ? Blocks that are thrown to the losing team at kickoff from 2 to 1 when the difference in score is 1 or 2 goals.
    • Adjusted the matchmaking system in online matches.
    • Made several other adjustments to game balance and fixed several other issues to improve the gameplay experience.

    • Reduced the probability of Stars appearing when you are losing by a 1 or 2 point difference.
    • Revised the CPU behaviour and opposing team composition in Cup Battles.
    • Added visible trail to the ball when it’s not in active possession, making it easier to see.
    • Made player numbers easier to see when playing online.
    • Fixed an issue when playing as Waluigi and using a Hyper Strike in which the ball could hit a goal post and not go in.
