Forgot Nintendo Account Sign-In Info (Email Address, Password, Sign-In ID)

You have forgotten the sign-in information (email address, password, or Sign-In ID) associated with your Nintendo Account.

Important:

  • If you have changed your preferences to allow sign in with your Sign-In ID only, you will not be able to use your email address to sign in. You will need to use your Sign-In ID to sign in to your account.

What to Do:

Have You Forgotten the Information for a Standard Nintendo Account or a Nintendo Account for a Child?


  • Make sure you are using the correct method to sign in. If you created your Nintendo Account by linking it to an existing account (such as NNID or Facebook), select the corresponding button on the sign-in page to sign in via your existing account.

  • If you have not yet created a Nintendo Account, select "Create a Nintendo Account" on the sign-in page, then follow the steps to create your account.
  • If your sign-in method is set to allow sign in with your Sign-In ID only and you have forgotten your Sign-In ID, it can be found in the email you received when you changed your sign-in method.
  • If you do not remember the password associated with your Nintendo Account, and you created your account with:
    • A Social Network (Twitter, Facebook, Google) - Visit the social networking site that you used to sign in to your Nintendo Account, and use their help area for directions to update your password.
    • A Nintendo Network ID - Click "Nintendo Network ID" on the sign- in page. Select "Forgot your password?" for steps to reset your password.
    • No other services (Nintendo Account only) - Click "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in page to reset your password.
  • If you know your password, you can view the email address associated with your Nintendo Account via your Nintendo Switch console.
    1. On the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu, select your user icon.
    2. Select “User Settings”, then “Check Nintendo Account Settings”.
    3. Enter your password when prompted to view the email associated with your Nintendo Account.
  • Your sign-in information can be verified and reset through your parent/guardian’s Nintendo Account.
    • To verify your Sign-In ID, have your parent/ guardian sign in to their account and select “Family group”.
      • All associated accounts for children will appear. Have them select your account, then "Sign-In and Security Settings", and your Sign-In ID will appear.
    • If you have forgotten your password, have your parent/guardian reset your password through their account.
