Please be aware that the batteries of systems in the Nintendo 3DS family – Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL, Nintendo 2DS, New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL – should only be recharged by using a thoroughly tested, safe charger. Some Nintendo handheld systems may have had the original Nintendo AC adapters substituted with an adapter manufactured by a third party.
Please be aware that any substitute AC adapters will not have been subject to Nintendo’s strict testing and quality control procedures. That does not necessarily mean that the AC adapter is dangerous, but it does mean that it will not have been subject to safety checks by Nintendo. Please bear in mind that Nintendo’s manufacturer warranty will not cover any damages caused by or in connection with chargers or power supplies manufactured by third parties.
The official Nintendo AC adapters that are normally included in Nintendo handheld systems' packaging are pictured in this article. Official AC adapters for Nintendo 3DS family systems are grey in colour, and bear all of the following markings:
If you have any concerns about the AC adapter that was included in your Nintendo handheld system purchase, please contact the retailer from which you purchased the product or get in touch with Nintendo Customer Services.
Electricity and the effects it may have on products that did not undergo a rigorous testing process is nothing to take lightly.
