Can I change my country of residence?

Yes, it is possible to change your country of residence.

Please read the following important information first:

  • Gold Points are only usable in countries that use the same currency as the country where they were earned. If you change the country setting associated with your Nintendo Account, your Gold Points will remain in your Nintendo Account, but they will not be displayed and cannot be used in countries with a different currency.
  • Your Nintendo eShop account balance does not carry over when you change your Nintendo Account country/region setting. You will need to use the remaining funds before you can change this setting. (For more information, click here.)
  • To redeem rewards for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS downloadable games or content, your Nintendo Account country of residence must be the same as that of your Wii U console or Nintendo 3DS system.
    • For example, if your Nintendo Account is set to the United States, you can redeem points for a Wii U or Nintendo 3DS download code. This code will only work on a console or system with a country of residence/region set to the United States. (It would not work on a console or system with a country of residence/region set to Japan, for example.)
    • Please note that point refunds or download code exchanges will not be made if you mistakenly redeem your points for a download code for the wrong country.

Can I give away or trade My Nintendo Points?

No. My Nintendo Points cannot be transferred, sold, or traded to other people.

The number of Platinum Points I have is different between the My Nintendo website and within a smart device application. Why is that?

Platinum Points earned through a smart device app are managed separately depending on the operating system of your device. If you use the app on an iOS device as well as an Android device, the number of Platinum Points you see within the application for each operating system will be different.

Platinum Points are awarded based on the operating system of the device used to complete a mission. There are also times where points will be awarded to the most recently accessed device.

The number of Platinum Points for each app that you see on the My Nintendo website is the total of these two, so please visit the My Nintendo website to view your total number of Platinum Points.

I completed a mission on a smart device app, but I didn't receive Platinum Points. Why is that?

Platinum Points for smart device apps are managed separately depending on the operating system of your device. If you use the app on an iOS device as well as an Android device, the number of Platinum Points you see within the application for each operating system will be different.

The number of Platinum Points for each app that you see on the My Nintendo website is the total of these two, so please visit the My Nintendo website to view your total number of Platinum Points.

When do daily or weekly missions reset?

Daily missions reset each day at 00:00 (in the time zone your Nintendo Account is set to).

Weekly missions reset each week on Monday at 00:00 (in the time zone your Nintendo Account is set to).

Redeeming Gold Points for Games

What has changed about My Nintendo Gold Points?

Beginning 5 March 2018, you can now redeem My Nintendo Gold Points for eligible digital Nintendo Switch game and DLC purchases in Nintendo eShop and on the Nintendo website (where available).

The way you earn Gold Points has also changed. Instead of basing the amount of Gold Points received off price tiers, you earn Gold Points based on the amount paid (excluding tax and any points or discounts used):

  • 5% for eligible digital purchases on Nintendo.com or Nintendo eShop (Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U)
  • 1% of the Nintendo eShop price for physical purchases (Nintendo Switch)

For details about earning and redeeming Gold Points, please click here.

How do I redeem my Gold Points on my digital purchases?

Whenever you purchase eligible digital Nintendo Switch content (on Nintendo eShop or the Nintendo website), you have the option to use your My Nintendo Gold Points towards the cost of the purchase.

You can choose how many Gold Points you want to use, and pay for the remaining balance with Nintendo eShop funds or any other payment method available in Nintendo eShop.

How much are Gold Points worth when redeemed for digital purchases?

My Nintendo members earn points equivalent to the following percentage of the purchase amount (excluding tax and any points or discounts used):

  • 5% for eligible digital software on the Nintendo website or Nintendo eShop (Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U)
  • 1% for physical purchases (Nintendo Switch)

My Nintendo Gold Points are promotional and have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash or its equivalent. They accrue at the rate of 5 Gold Points per £1.00 spent on eligible purchases, and can be redeemed for £0.01 per Gold Point towards eligible digital Nintendo Switch purchases.

For example - if you spend £59.99 to purchase an eligible digital Nintendo Switch game, you will accrue 300 Gold Points (5%). This equates to £3.00 in Gold Point value that you can apply to a future eligible purchase on the Nintendo website or in Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch.

For details about earning and redeeming Gold Points, please click here.

Can Gold Points be used to purchase Nintendo 3DS or Wii U software?

Gold Points cannot be used to purchase Nintendo 3DS or Wii U software (either on-device or through the Nintendo website).

However, you can continue to redeem your points for existing My Nintendo rewards for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, including software discounts and download codes for downloadable content.

Were there any changes to the Gold Points I accumulated up until 5 March 2018?

The number of Gold Points in your balance has not been adjusted.

The value of the remaining points in your balance is £0.01 per Gold Point if redeemed towards eligible Nintendo Switch purchases made through Nintendo eShop and the Nintendo website (where available).

Can I redeem Gold Points in a different country?
