Unable to Charge Game & Watch Systems

Support | Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros.

The information in this article can help you when the internal battery for the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. or Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda system do not seem to take a charge.

    Important Information

The Game & Watch systems can be charged by:

    • Connecting them to the included USB charging cable (model HAC-010) and then to the Nintendo USB AC adapter (model CLV-003, sold separately).
    • If you would like to use the included USB charging cable (model HAC-010) with a standard household socket, please use a USB-compatible AC adapter.
    • Note: While some USB-compatible devices may be able to supply power to the Game & Watch systems, Nintendo cannot recommend any particular device. Please make sure to follow the instructions of any third-party device.

    Note

    • When fully charged, the Game & Watch systems can provide approximately 8 hours of play time. However, this may vary depending on play style, screen brightness and volume levels.

    What to do

    1. Connect the included USB charging cable to the USB Type-C™ connector on the right side of the device, then to the Nintendo USB AC adapter (sold separately).

    2. Connect the Nintendo USB AC adapter to a wall socket.
      • When you first connect the system to charge it, the battery level and charging icon will be momentarily displayed on the top right corner of the screen.

      • You can also view the battery level and charging icon by pressing the PAUSE/SET Button while in game mode or clock mode.

Is the charging icon displayed when the system is first connected, or when the PAUSE/SET Button is pressed?

    Allow the system to charge.

Test the USB charging cable and USB AC adapter with a compatible device, such as a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller or other accessory.

    Situation not resolved

If another device is able to charge correctly, but not a Game & Watch system, then the latter will need to be repaired.
