It’s almost time! On Tuesday 13th June, four of the world’s best Splatoon teams will battle it out in the 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational. It’ll be the first time competitors will compete for world dominance in the upcoming Nintendo Switch game, ahead of its launch on July 21st.
The four teams splatting it out for supremacy are:
- Deadbeat from the United States
- Dynameu from Japan
- Rising Moon from Europe
- Blue Ringed Octolings from Australia/New Zealand
All these teams defeated their rivals in local tournaments which occurred in recent months. You may remember Rising Moon from the ESL Go4Splatoon Europe Grand Final in Paris back in April, where they overcame three other teams and were crowned champions of Europe!
During the show in Los Angeles, the teams will battle in a round-robin Turf War tournament that will decide the seeding for the next round. This allows them to play one another and scope out their opponents’ strengths and weaknesses. In the next round, teams will battle in Ranked Battle modes. The semi-final stage will be a best-of-five battle, while the championship will be best-of-seven.
Want to watch the action live? Head to Nintendo of Europe’s E3 2017 website from approximately 23:30 local time tomorrow to watch the whole tournament live! It will also be broadcasted on our official YouTube and Twitch channels.
It’s set to be a great tournament! We hope you’ll join us as we find out which team emerges from the ink victorious.
