  • Update from the Squid Research Lab: What are the Ranked Battle modes like in Splatoon 2?

    12/06/2017

As you might have heard, the 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational starts on Tuesday, June 13th at approximately 22:30 (UK time) and features competitors from four different global teams.

You probably already know all about Turf War battles, but the Invitational won't be limited to just those. Ranked Battle modes will be there too! Yep, Splat Zones, Tower Control and Rainmaker battles all feature in what’s set to be an incredible showdown!

Ranked Battles see players duke it out to try and boost their rank. Let's review how the battles go down!

    Splat Zones

In Splat Zones, victory goes to the team that keeps control of the Splat Zones in the stage. Paint them with your team's ink to steal them from your opponents and take them over!

This time the Splat Zones have an indicator in the middle to show you their status, so keep an eye out!

    Tower Control

In Tower Control, the team that rides the tower into the opponent's goal wins. This time, the tower tracks have checkpoints along the way and the tower stops for a bit when you reach a checkpoint. Work together as a team to break through!

    Rainmaker

In Rainmaker, the team that carries the Rainmaker to the other team's goal wins. Steal the Rainmaker and get it to the goal! In Splatoon 2, if you fire a Rainmaker shot when it's charged to the max, the shot will explode when it hits. The Rainmaker's no sitting duck!

There you have it! All three of these modes will appear in Splatoon 2, and you’ll get to see them in action at the 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational.

Splatoon 2 comes to Nintendo Switch on July 21st. Find out more about it at the official Splatoon 2 gamepage and stay tuned to the Splatoon Facebook page where we often present our findings!
