Match and munch!

Match colourful plates of sushi to pile them up, then toss them at your opponent to deliver crushing blows! Coloured plates can be matched horizontally, vertically or even diagonally to really get them towering high.

This plate-matching freedom comes at a price, however, as these plates of sushi are always on the move across a seven-lane conveyor belt. You’ve got to think and react quickly to create the best combos. Better combos mean taller stacks, and taller stacks mean stronger attacks! You can even try matching the exact same type of sushi to deal out even more delicious devastation – tasty stuff!

Though there’s lots more to digest, the recipe for success is simple: eat sushi, stack plates and dish them out at your opponent until there’s one left standing.

Fast food

Thought you had the entire conveyor belt to yourself? Think again! Each player has exclusive access to three lanes of the conveyor belt, as well as an additional shared lane that both players have access to, meaning it’s possible to steal plates of sushi from one another and interrupt potentially mouth-watering combos. It’s first come, first served!

Screenshot_NSwitch_SushiStrikerTheWayOfSushido_OnlineBanner_LargePlates_Girl_2_EN.jpg

What’s more, you only have seven seconds to create each combo, meaning smart thinking and lightning-quick reflexes are the keys to creating the mightiest of plate towers. Don’t get greedy, remain calm and try not to let time pressure leave you in a sticky situation!

Befriend them all

Along your journey, you’ll encounter over 50 Sushi Sprites: small but powerful creatures that each offer a unique skill to enhance your sushi eating abilities. Sushi Sprite skills affect battles in lots of ways, for example boosting your defence against oncoming attacks for a period of time. Take up to three Sushi Sprites into battle and use their skills to plan your strategy, boost your powers and secure the victory.

Your opponents possess Sushi Sprites too, so ensuring that you befriend and learn about as many Sushi Sprites as you can will certainly help turn the tide in battle.

Eat…and grow!

During your adventure, you and your Sushi Sprites will level up via experience points, earned by battling and collecting items. This will increase your strength and stamina, as well as your Sushi Sprites’ defences. You’ll even earn higher quality plates of sushi, allowing for stronger attacks. Do your best to level up to give you an edge in chow down showdowns!

Screenshot_NSwitch_SushiStrikerTheWayOfSushido_Online_EXP_LevelUp.jpg

Sushi Sprites can even change form, boosting their skills and, in turn, your offensive and defensive powers. You’ll also earn and unlock items and more to enhance both you and your Sushi Sprites’ abilities in many different ways. For example, setting a certain type of sushi as your favourite before a battle will increase the duration of your Sushi Sprites’ special skills. There’s a lot to discover about the world of sushi striking!

For the elite

Think you’ve mastered the art of being a Sushi Striker? With each battle being ranked and containing additional special conditions, there are more reasons to replay the levels you’ve conquered! For example, there might be a challenge to defeat an opponent within a certain time limit, rewarding skilful sushi play with bonus experience points and useful items.

Screenshot_NSwitch_SushiStrikerTheWayOfSushido_Online_ChallengeInitialScreen.jpg

There are also plenty of advanced tactics to discover and practise, and the Puzzle Hut is the perfect place to do so. Here, you’ll battle a robot who’s highly-skilled at connecting plates of sushi. Take it on to fine-tune your strategies, develop techniques and ready yourself for tougher encounters ahead!

Shrine time

After reaching a certain point in the story, you can explore the Shrine Grove: a small village that's packed with things to do! Test your skills in the Puzzle Hut, challenge friends at the Multi Hut or visit an ancient shrine to increase your Striker Rank. You can even throw a Sushi Party to boost your Sushi Sprite's morale or visit the local sushi restaurant to overhear the latest gossip from its customers.

Multiplayer mayhem!

Seeking out more competition? Settle the score over sushi against your friends in the Multi Hut. The Multi Hut contains two multiplayer modes: Tasteful Battles and Chaos Battles. Tasteful Battles consist of battle gameplay similar to those found in the game’s story and Chaos Battles make the fun more frenzied as they feature capsules that appear on the shared lane, which can stun opponents if collected!
