Suck up your fears and embark on a supernatural, comical quest to save Mario in Luigi’s Mansion for Nintendo 3DS family systems. In this remake of the Nintendo GameCube classic, tread carefully through a haunted house – alone or with a friend – as you solve pesky puzzles and guzzle up ghouls with your trusty vacuum cleaner.

A strange beginning

CI_3DS_LuigisMansion_0_Beginning_scr.png

Congratulations! Luigi won a mansion…in a contest he didn’t enter? Unfortunately, his grand prize is infested with spooky spirits and his brother Mario is trapped somewhere deep inside! With the help of a quirky inventor named Professor E. Gadd, and armed with a nifty new ghost-grabbing gizmo – the Poltergust 3000 – Luigi must tough it out and come to the rescue!

Time to clean house

CI_3DS_LuigisMansion_0_TimeToClean_3DS_EN.png

Work your way through a trap-filled manor room-by-room, solving puzzles and acquiring keys to unlock new areas as you go. Afraid you’ll get lost in this dingy dwelling? Consult the map on the Touch Screen at any time to find your way.

When you stumble across a ghost, use your flashlight or newly added Strobulb to catch them by surprise, then reel them in with the Poltergust 3000 – just be prepared to put up a fight as they attempt to escape! Tougher intruders known as Portrait Ghosts have also taken up residency in certain rooms. Each one has a unique personality so study these peculiar poltergeists and their surrounding carefully to figure your best course of action.

Your experimental vacuum cleaner does more than drive out the unwanted – shake the furniture to find hidden treasures and inhale elemental medals to spray fire, water or ice at obstacles in your way and foes alike!

Tools for victory

In addition to the flashlight and Poltergust 3000, you can also use the Strobulb that first appeared in Luigi’s Mansion 2. While the ever-present flashlight can stun ghosts if shone in their direction, the Strobulb can be charged up by holding a button to unleash a powerful, wider beam of light – surprising multiple ghouls at once!

The Game Boy Horror has also received an upgrade. A handy map can be conveniently viewed at all times on the Touch Screen, so use this to your advantage when navigating this giant sinister manor.

Picture perfect

Depending on your performance, each ghost’s frame might get upgraded as proof of your ghost-busting abilities! There are also over 40 achievements to unlock that’ll have you exploring every nook and cranny to complete them all.

An unforgiving building

CI_3DS_LuigisMansion_1_UnforgivingBuilding_scr_01.jpg

After beating the game, take on a tougher challenge in the Hidden Mansion. In this frightening place, you’ll encounter even more powerful poltergeists with some unexpected tricks up their sleeves. Fear not – two players can explore the Hidden Mansion together via Local Play*.

Professor E.Gadd's Research Journal

01: An accidental discovery

CI_3DS_LuigisMansion_4_Observation_01_photo_01.png

Ghosts: spirits that dwell in the darkness and take great joy in scaring humans. Some of these ghosts have grown attached to me, and I've noticed (and collected!) a strange liquid energy from them. I'm certain this liquid is the key to many, many new inventions!

CI_3DS_LuigisMansion_4_Observation_01_photo_02.png

My many experiments failed to reveal anything about this peculiar ghost energy! It didn't react to cold or heat; I tried poking it with iron, pouring it on rubber... I may have even dipped my morning doughnut in it... All to no effect!

CI_3DS_LuigisMansion_4_Observation_01_photo_03.png

But then, a breakthrough! I was restoring my scientific gusto with an exquisite cup of coffee – a Lunoman Greenie blend from Evershade Valley – when a stealthy ghost snuck up behind me. In my shock, I spilled the entire cup of joe into a vial of the ghost energy and...it reacted instantly!

CI_3DS_LuigisMansion_4_Observation_01_photo_04.png

The ghost energy quickly began changing colour, adopting the same green as my finely brewed beverage! After a bit it also gained viscosity, and now it appears to have stablised into an entirely new element!

I have decided to name this element "Goo".

I must return to my research on Goo POST-HASTE!"
