Wireless Play

Nintendo DS systems are enabled with wireless communication technology, allowing up to 16 gamers to connect on a local wireless network without the need for Internet. The distance within which players can connect with one another ranges from between 9 and 30 metres.

Local multiplayer

Local Multiplayer

While certain games require each player to own a copy of a game in order to participate in a multiplayer session (Multi-Card Play), there are many titles that support Single-Card Play. This means that only one player actually needs a copy of the game, and up to 15 others (depending on the software) can use the Download Play feature of their Nintendo DS system to participate in the game, or even download a demo version of the title. Just look for the logos on games to find out which type of Wireless Play is supported.

Connect to Wii

Connect to Wii

Wireless technology also enables Nintendo DS systems to communicate with the Wii console. Certain games offer special connectivity features when you wirelessly connect your Nintendo DS to your Wii console. Sometimes you can use your DS to play a Wii game, or you can transfer data from one system to the other.
